CBRS Inc., which conducts business as Canadian Bond Rating Services, was incorporated in 1972, for the purpose of providing credit ratings and financial analysis of Canadian corporations and governments. CBRS was the first credit rating agency to be established in Canada and is the largest in terms of number of staff, as well as in the number of issuers rated, both corporate and government. CBRS was the first non-U.S. rating agency to gain international acceptance through its active involvement in the Eurobond Market.

CBRS specializes in the analysis and rating of Canadian corporations and governments and their agencies. CBRS ratings span a variety of industry sectors which include the following: chemical products, cement and concrete products, communications and media, consumer products, industrial products, merchandising, mines and metals, oil and gas, paper and forest products, pipelines, steel, gas, electrical and telephone utilities, transportation, asset-backed securities, banks, diversified holdings, financial services, insurance companies, investment funds, real estate, structured ratings, and trust companies.

CBRS has also acquired an expertise in the financial analysis and rating of American, European and other multinationals with Canadian subsidiaries or those who have actively accessed the Canadian market. CBRS does not underwrite securities, take security positions, or engage in any broker activities.
