"Sites to See" lists some financial websites that we find interesting and useful. We have provided a brief description and a link to each site.

THE BANK OF CANADA
This is an excellent resource for individuals interested in Canadian monetary and fiscal policy, as well as, economic statistics. The Bank of Canada's role is outlined. Access to official publications, both free and for a fee, is provided. Technical reports and the text of speeches by the Governor of the Bank are also provided. The site is laid out in a simple format, content is strong, and graphics are simple.
BLOOMBERG
The Bloomberg site has quality financial information sourced from the Bloomberg system, which is a major commercial source of international financial news, analytics and trading systems. Their Internet site is divided into two major sectors, one free and the other is protected for users who are subscribers to Bloomberg Magazine. Interesting features include research, market commentary and news, as well as Bloomberg Radio.
CANOE MONEY
This Canadian based site is well organized with a substantial amount of relevant market information. Features include interest rates on various products, Canadian & US market closes, Mutual Fund news, and tax info. There are no membership fees or sign-up costs. Graphics may exceed some program capabilities.
E-LINE FINANCIALS
One stop shopping for company information. This site centralizes many different sources of financial information, drawing on the capabilities of many other sites. Companies can be searched by name and ticker. Smartlinks are provided to company homepages, annual reports, price quotations, research sources and news releases.
THE FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD
The Fed has put together a content intense site which focuses on all aspects of its responsibilities. News, auction dates, results and histories, currency fixings, as well as, statistics and research papers. Timely articles on economic issues and policy concerns create excellent content. FAQs and publications round out some of the more interesting offerings. The site allows the user to access any one of the Federal District Offices sites and data as well.
INVESTORGUIDE
A free, comprehensive resource for investing and personal finance. It's text oriented and quick loading, but there are no graphics so it's not much fun :-( . However, it's got an annotated directory of links to over 7,000 great investing sites: stocks, mutual funds, quotes, brokers, and lots more... if it's about investing, you'll find it here. Also included are research tools, a learning section, a weekly e-mail magazine, and other useful stuff. A great, well thought out site!
INVESTORWORDS
A great investing glossary. Here you will find over 4,000 definitions and 15,000 links between related terms.
NASDAQ STOCK MARKET
Provides a "window into the Nasdaq stock market". Its designers call it "the one place on the Web where investors can come for all investment information at no cost." The site pretty much lives up to its creator's claims. It does assume some basic investment knowledge, but if you use The Pipeline you're covered, so check it out. The site gives updates every minute on not only Nasdaq, but also other key domestic and financial indices. Their quotes page is designed to provide you with trading information on not only Nasdaq, but also NYSE and AMEX securities as well as Mutual Funds. The site also features sections on Market News, Market Activity, and Personal Finance where you can track your own porfolio's performance. If you have a solid base in investing and investment knowledge, this site is an excellent resource for keeping your market edge.
THE FUND LIBRARY
This site is specific to Canadian mutual funds. It has interesting information on Canadian mutual funds, some of which would be of use to investors from the U.S. and other countries. A very interesting portion of the site is their "Audio Room" in RealAudio format which has interviews with mutual fund managers on their funds and market outlook.
THE ORGANIZATION FOR ECONOMIC AND COOPERATION DEVELOPMENT
As one might expect there is a diverse offering of information and articles, covering many countries and regions. Press releases, publications, articles, standardized statistics across countries make up the balance of the fare. Most of the content requires Adobe's Acrobat to be read. If you do not have that program on your system, a hotlink to the Adobe internet site is provided so that you may down load the articles.
STATISTICS CANADA
Here is a site for the number cruncher in all of us. Statistics on the land, the people, and the economy are all on this site. For those brave at heart, there is also an international directory of on-line statistical databases, the Government of Canada telephone directory (in case you want to call your favourite Federal Minister), and links to Provincial databases as well.
BRIEFING.COM
This site is a market news site with 15 minute delayed market updates, charts, analysis, and breaking financial news for a fee. All this info is yours for $6.95 a month. The public information is based a trading day approximately 7 weeks ago. You can look at all the information available on that day to see if you think a subscription would be of value.
THOMSON'S MARKETEDGE
The premise of this US based site is to entice the user to see the potential of the information which will be provided upon subscribing to the full service. The real information lies behind the firewall. For a $7.95 monthly fee you will be privy to: a Market Monitor which is news updated four times daily; access to charts, quotes, mutual fund & municipal issues; and 'professional' research.
THE VALUE POINT ANALYSIS FINANCIAL FORUM
Visitors can evaluate stocks using a fundamental analysis model and post the results in a forum for all to see and comment on. Visitors can also access the input assumptions and results of any of the posted stocks and perform their own evaluations. Associated with the stock's evaluation is its Relative Risk Factor that rates the riskiness of the evaluation's input assumptions.
WACHOWICZ'S WEB WORLD: WEB SITES FOR DISCERNING FINANCE STUDENTS
John Wachowicz a professor of finance at the University of Tennessee has compiled an astounding list of links for his finance students.The links correspond to the major topic headings in the text book "Fundamentals of Financial Management".
